Richard Forshee
Richard Forshee is currently the Associate Director for Benefit Risk Assessment in the Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. He leads an interdisciplinary team of scientists who conduct quantitative benefit-risk assessments, develop new methods for analyzing Real World Data, and use artificial intelligence to develop tools to improve regulatory science.
Dr. Forshee has published more than 120 articles in journals such as the The Lancet Infectious Diseases, Transfusion, Vaccine, Journal of Nutrition, Cancer, Risk Analysis, Journal of the American Public Health Association, and others. He has also published dozens of scientific reports, conference proceedings, white papers, and comments to national and international regulatory bodies.
Dr. Forshee has received numerous awards including the FDA Award of Merit, the Hope Hopps Memorial Award, and Society for Risk Analysis Outstanding Practitioner Award.
Teaching is one of Dr. Forshee's passions. Most of his current teaching is in the area of quantitative benefit-risk assessment and statistical graphics. In 1999, he received an award for service and dedication to the students at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute.
Dr. Forshee received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor in 1994.
